Up-coming and/or recent performancesTuesday, Feb. 10, 2026 - 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. - I lead and play keyboard with the Mile High Jazz Band performing its annual "Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts" program at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge in the Carson Nugget. The music is free, and donations are welcome. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026 - 4:00 p.m. - I conduct the Carson City Symphony in its "America 250" Concert at 4:00 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. The Symphony celebrates the 250th anniversary (a little early) of the United States Declaration of Independence. Our featured soloist is Brittney May. Music includes a performance of Gwenyth Walker's new composition, "America 250!" Also on the program are Bruce Roter's "A Birthday Celebration," William H. Santelmann's "Thomas Jefferson March," Dwight Gustafson's "Camp Meeting," Robert Washburn's "New England Holiday," Leroy Anderson's "Bugler's Holiday," Carlisle Floyd's "Ain't It a Pretty Night" from the American opera Susannah, Rodgers and Hammerstein's "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the musical Carousel, and Robert Russell Bennett's "Suite of Old American Dances." Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 - Mile High Jazz Band presents the 2026 Jazz Extravaganza at the Carson City Community Center - It's "big-band jazz times four" when the Mile High Jazz Band and three youth jazz bands present the 22nd annual Jazz Extravaganza concert, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street, Carson City. The Extravaganza is sponsored by the Mile High Jazz Band Association as a benefit for youth jazz programs. Performing with Mile High Jazz Band this year are the Carson High School Jazz Band directed by Nick Jacques, the Carson Middle School Jazz Band directed by Stephanie Van Orman, and the Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra directed by Nichole Heglund. Tues., March 10, 2026 - 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. - I lead and play keyboard with the Mile High Jazz Band performing a Jazz-and-Poetry event at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge in the Carson Nugget. Tues., April 14, 2026 - 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. - I lead and play keyboard with the Mile High Jazz Band performing a big band gig at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge in the Carson Nugget. Sunday, April 26, 2026 - 4:00 p.m. - I conduct the Carson City Symphony in a concert with Natalie Brooke Higgins, horn soloist, at Carson City Community Center. Sunday, April 26, 2026 - 6:00 p.m. - The Reno Philharmonic's "Play and Sing for a Day" event at Billinghurst Middle School rehearses and performs my arrangement of "Las Chiapanecas." Sat., May 2, 2026 - at time TBD - I lead and play keyboard with the Mile High Jazz Band performing at Nevada State Museum's gala event. Tues., May 12, 2026 - 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. - I lead and play keyboard with the Mile High Jazz Band performing a big band gig at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge in the Carson Nugget. Sunday, June 7, 2026 - (date/location to be confirmed), 6:00 p.m., I conduct the Carson City Symphony at its "Pops Party Concert" at the Nevada Governor's Mansion, Carson City. Tues., June 6, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. - Mile High Jazz Band performs Jazz-and-Poetry event at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge in the Carson Nugget. Saturday, July 4, 2026 - 11:30 a.m. - I play tuba with the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra at Heritage Park in Gardnerville, NV. Saturday, July 4, 2026 - 3:45 p.m. - I conduct the Carson City Symphony in its free performance at the "Genoa Americana Celebration" in Mormon Station Park. Details pending. Tues., July 14, 2026 - 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. - The Mile High Jazz Band performs a big band gig at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge in the Carson Nugget with guest director. Aug. 11-14, 2026 - I participate in the SPAH (Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica) Convention in St. Louis, MO. I am rehearsing and conducting the Tom Stryker Big Band, an 8-piece chromatic harmonica group. The group also performs one or two of my arrangements. Aug. 14 to Aug. 23, 2026 - Mile High Jazz Band Assoc. presents the 23rd Annual Jazz & Beyond Music Festival - over 20 free events at various locations - see https://jazzcarsoncity.com. Fri., Aug. 21, 2026 - 7:00 p.m. - I lead and play keyboard with the Mile High Jazz Band, performing MHJB's performs annual "Basie Birthday" event as part of the Jazz & Beyond Music Festival (Aug. 14-23).
